The candidates who will take above mentioned international proficiency exams in Türkiye, must choose the test centers that are located in Turkish public universities or Bahçeşehir University. Please also note that TOEFL Special Home Edition, PTE Academic Online and Duolingo test results are not acceptable proficiency scores at BAU. If you don’t have any acceptable proficiency score, you are free to enter BAU Proficiency exam after registration. Also, you can only take BAU exam once. You can find a proficiency exam sample here.
Exemption Rule: The students who studied last 3 years of their high school education in Australia, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), New Zealand, South Africa or the United States will be exempt from the English exams.
Note: The programs which are 30% in English such as Law, Music, Music Technology and Performing Arts also require general English proficiency score.
Turkish Proficiency (Bachelor’s & Associate)
The students who will study in Turkish are required to provide B2 level Turkish language proficiency. If student does not have a valid Central Turkish Proficiency Exam result (the institute must be authorized by YÖK), they must sit for Bahçeşehir University’s Turkish language proficiency examination after they completed the enrollment process in İstanbul.
Required score for undergraduate programs in BAU Turkish proficiency exam is 60.
Exemption Rule: The students who studied last 3 years of their secondary education in a national high school located in a country where Turkish is the official language will be exempt from the Turkish exams.

Turkish Proficiency (Master’s)
The students who will study in Turkish are required to provide B2 level Turkish language proficiency. If student does not have a valid Central Turkish Proficiency Exam result (the institute must be authorized by YÖK), they must sit for Bahçeşehir University’s Turkish language proficiency examination after they completed the enrollment process in İstanbul.
Required score for master’s degree programs in BAU Turkish proficiency exam is 65. For master’s degree in Law programs, this score must be 80.
Exemption Rule: Students who have successfully graduated from an undergraduate program whose language of instruction is Turkish at a university in the country or abroad whose equivalence is accepted by the Council of Higher Education will be exempt from the Turkish exams.
